Description

When a client makes changes to their diet, nutrition habits and lifestyle and gets excited about the positive results, it makes me so happy! I love nothing more than the feeling of helping someone move forward in their life. Your health is your most precious asset, without it, no other goals matter.

When I was in my twenties I was 25 lbs overweight, had intense sugar cravings, low energy and could not figure out how to lose weight. The thought of giving up sugar was out of the question for me. This was a turning point in my life. I was no longer willing to accept weight gain and health symptoms, but I wasn’t sure of how to make a change.

After years of searching for something that worked, in 2005 I was introduced to the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. I had an inner knowing that this was absolutely my path and nobody could talk me out of it. It was two of the most transformative years of my life. I had the opportunity to learn from holistic leaders such as Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Walter Willett, Geneen Roth, Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Barry Sears, Dr. John Douillard, Sally Fallon Morell, Annemarie Colbin and so many more. I made significant changes to my diet and lifestyle and I noticed life was getting sweeter and sweeter. After graduating from the program, I started my own practice as a holistic nutrition counselor.

I’ve successfully coached clients to achieve their health goals since 2007. If you’re looking to feel more energized, reduce sugar cravings, resolve digestive issues, boost your metabolism, and achieve your weight loss goals, I would love to meet with you and talk about your individualized needs. Every person is different, and I’m committed to helping you achieve your nutritional goals!

To deepen my counseling skills, I went back to school for my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from 2011-2013. I graduated from UW-Stout which is one of the longest accredited and one of the top two MFT schools in the nation. They receive over 80 applications a year and accept 12 students. I knew I needed to be a therapist to help my clients work on the root causes of their relationship with food. I specifically chose the discipline of marriage and family therapy because I believe in the systemic approach to mental health. I believe that the family we grow up in strongly shapes who we become. I’ve seen a theme to my work after becoming a licensed therapist which has been the intensely negative effect that shame can have on a person’s eating habits. Shame is an emotion that will keep you stuck unless you have the motivation and courage to explore its roots. This exploration has the powerful effect of freeing you to become more conscious of your eating which is a key to changing your relationship with food.

Maggie Christopher is currently providing Holistic Counseling services in the St Paul, Minneapolis and the surrounding Twin Cities area. Your first nutrition consultation is always free!
